The Handspun Cow
Educational HomesteAD

We are a working homestead in Central Vermont with a focus on self reliance and community education. Guided by a strong land ethic and mission to explore our human place within the ecosystems that support us, we work hard in everything we do. We grow almost all of our own grains, produce, dairy and meat, fibers, craft our own clothing, tools and furniture, harvest firewood, hide tanning - and more! We are passionate educators dedicated to sharing our knowledge, skills and hands-on experiences with the wider community.
We teach practical and sustainable homesteading skills through immersion apprenticeships and weekend intensives. Participants will help with animal husbandry, milking, cheese making, low-impact gardening, making hay with a scythe, and wood-fired cooking. Additional skills such as soap making, natural dyeing, basket weaving, preparing wool, spinning, and knitting are also available upon participants’ requests.
